SnoClip, X-Clip, or DualClip will all stop or retard the passage of snow and ice beneath the snow retention cross member.
Note: SnoClip, X-Clip, or DualClip will stop or retard the passage of minor amounts of snow and ice beneath the snow retention cross member, particularly when thin blankets of snow or ice are present on the roof. These components are optional at the discretion of the designer/user. They can be used on any seam height. We generally recommend their use at the eave when seam heights are above 2”, but in some instances they may not be necessary.
- If other flashing elements are utilized (e.g. if eave guttering accomplishes this purpose), they may not be necessary. If small amounts of snow slipping beneath the crossmember is not a hazard or nuisance, their use is somewhat discretionary, In general, one SnoClip per panel on the first row of snow retention will suffice when seam or rib spacing is 24” or less. Frequency is also at designer discretion. (SnoClip pictured below).
- When seam spacing is >24″, two or more SnoClips per panel are recommended. The SnoClip II & SnapClip II will work on seam heights up to 1.5". The SnoClip III & SnapClip III will work on seam heights greater than 1.5" and up to 3". (SnapClip pictured below).
- SnoClips are not recommended on 3" horizontal seams that use the S-5-H90 or S-5-U in the horizontal orientation subject to designer discretion.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: We offer two different options for SnoClip. One must be installed during initial system assembly. The other is a retrofit design that can be added any time post system installation.
